Regency Media

Key Challenges

With a range of complex component lists spread across seven separate databases, Regency Media required a Bill of Materials (BOM) Builder that correlated this highly complex catalogue of parts and business rules so that customer service staff could easily generate production orders through the company's ERP system, SYSPRO, without the possibility of manufacturing errors.

In addition to the BOM Builder, Regency Media also needed to streamline its costing system which was completely manual and prone to error with most of the figures held in a range of spreadsheets and a selection of heads.

Director's Opinion

In early 2006 Digital Tree began work on the BOM Builder that now provides the foundations of Regency Media's product process.

According to Ryan McNaught of Regency Media, the BOM Builder is now completely indispensible and has saved the company incalculable amounts of time and money.

"I simply can't imagine doing business with the BOM Builder - it's at the core of our operations," said McNaught.

"The application that Digital Tree created is a stunning example of software development.

"Our manufacturing process is highly complex and exacting, to the point that if one small binary ‘o' isn't working, the product will fail," he said.

"The BOM Builder accounts for this perfectly, so while the system is intricate and sophisticated, the greatest benefit is its ease of use and simplicity.

"With the BOM Builder completed, we then got Digital Tree to build an Automated Quoting system - this too has been a life saver," McNaught said.
